Kate Middleton gives birth to a baby boy 22/07/2013

The world finally got a glimpse of Britain’s future king last night when Kate Middleton and Prince William walked through the doors of the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s hospital cradling their precious new born baby boy.

After weeks of anticipation, the royal couple finally appeared in front of the world’s media at 7.10pm CET last night. Kate Middleton who was wearing a pale blue dress, cradled her new baby protectively as the sky was lit up by hundreds of flashlights from the paparazzi who have been camped outside for days. As if on cue, the Royal baby raised its arms obligingly as his proud father Prince William described the birth as “very emotional, very special.” He also added that “He’s a big boy and he’s got a good set of lungs that’s for sure”. “He’s got his mother’s looks luckily.”

The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to the baby boy who is still to be named, at St Mary’s hospital in London at 4.24pm CET on Monday 22nd July. Prince William was present at the birth. We have been told that the baby weighed a healthy eight pounds, six ounces.

The news has triggered a deluge of congratulations from all around the World, lead by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh who are said to be “delighted” by the birth of their great grandson. Prince Charles said he was “enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time”.

The birth of the first royal baby to be born in the age of Social Media was announced via the palace’s Twitter and Facebook accounts. Shortly afterwards, it was confirmed in the rather more traditional manner: a proclamation placed on a wooden easel in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace, along with a gun salute later on in the day.

The whole world has gone baby crazy, and scenes have included the London Eye lighting up blue in colour, the Sun newspaper changing its name for the occasion to “The Son”, and more memorabilia than one can shake a stick at!

We are all genuinely happy for the Royal couple, and are waiting with baited breath for the announcement of the name. Favourites in our office so far are Alexander, George and Winston!
